Projectors, Film, and More!

1932 Kodascope 8 Model 50

The Kodascope 8 model 50 is a 8mm projector. I have two of these each with their case.
Unfortunately the first case is badly damaged with the holders on the inside broken off and the top part of it is unattached, both of them also have broken carrying straps/handles.

The first one I got was from Goodwill and was in complete working condition till the metal belt driving the reels snapped. I ended up being able to replace it with a rubberband and it mostly worked for a while until it started breaking film as it would get caught randomly so I have to look into repairing it now.

The second one was from an antique store for $40. It seems to be in complete working order and plays my films nicely.Being older these do not thread for you and are totaly manual.

Oh also both of them still somehow have working bulbs. According to some pamphlets and information online it uses a "standard" 300-watt coil-coil lamp. It touts that the model 50 is quiet and cool, which although mine makes some noise, It actually does make less noise then my 70's projector did. And all these features just for only $39(That's around $885 in 2025!).

I think the best thing about these is how the click feels on the on/off switch. It's one of those old metal switches that physically and audibly clicks when flipped.

Here's a flier where I found some info:Indiana University Bloomington library
